What to Expect on Your First Padel Holiday

A day-by-day walkthrough of a typical padel holiday, so first-timers can arrive confident, prepared, and ready to make the most of every moment.

What to Expect on Your First Padel Holiday

Arrival Day: Settling In and Meeting the Group

Your padel holiday begins with a warm welcome. At Golden Point, we personally greet every guest, show you to your accommodation, and provide a full orientation of the facilities. This is not a faceless hotel check-in — we want you to feel at home immediately. You will receive your welcome pack, which includes your court schedule, coach introductions, and a map of local amenities.

The first evening is always a social affair. We host a welcome dinner where guests meet each other, the coaching team, and the Golden Point hosts. This is a relaxed, no-pressure event designed to break the ice. Whether you are travelling alone or with friends, you will leave dinner knowing several names and feeling part of the group. There is no padel on arrival day — we want you rested and ready for the courts tomorrow.

Day One: Assessment and Foundation Building

The first morning begins with a light hit-around and informal assessment. Our coaches watch you play a few points to understand your level, strengths, and areas for development. Do not be nervous — this is not a test. It simply helps us group you with players of similar ability and tailor the coaching to your needs. We have seen every level from complete beginners to advanced club players.

The afternoon typically features your first structured coaching session. Beginners focus on the basics: the serve, basic groundstrokes, and understanding the walls. Intermediate players work on tactical patterns, net positioning, and partner communication. Advanced players drill specific weaknesses and work on match strategy. Every session is practical, energetic, and designed to give you tools you can use immediately.

Mid-Holiday: Matches, Social Play, and Exploration

By day three, you are into the rhythm. Mornings are for coached sessions, and afternoons are for free play, friendly matches, and exploration. Most guests find they want to play more than the schedule requires, and we encourage this — the courts are always available outside formal sessions. The social matches are where real improvement happens: competitive but friendly, with coaching tips offered in real time.

Depending on your destination, the afternoons might also include local activities. In the Cotswolds, we organise village pub walks. In Cornwall, there are surfing or coastal path excursions. In Spain, beach club afternoons and tapas tours. These activities are optional but strongly recommended — they are where the best friendships form, and they ensure your holiday balances sport with genuine relaxation.

The Final Days: Tournament and Farewell

Every Golden Point holiday culminates in a friendly round-robin tournament. This is the highlight for many guests: a chance to test your improvement in a competitive but supportive environment. We run separate draws for different levels, and the atmosphere is more village fete than Wimbledon final. Prizes, applause, and plenty of laughter are guaranteed.

The final evening is our farewell dinner, where we celebrate the week's achievements, share stories, and exchange contact details. Many of our guests return year after year, often booking with the same group of friends they met on their first trip. A padel holiday is never just about the sport — it is about the people, the places, and the memories you create together.
